Skullcap and Milky Oats are the classic nerve tonics but this one, in my humble opinion, is just as useful, as easy to grow, and much cuter. Just give them a full day of sun and wait for it to start flowering, which usually happens in July and August to harvest. At 18" in bloom, they make a great border plant.

Stachys officinalis is a PERENNIAL growing to 0.6 m (2ft) by 0.5 m (1ft 8in) at a fast rate.
It is in flower from June to September, and the seeds ripen from July to October. The species is hermaphrodite (has both male and female organs) and is pollinated by Bees.
It is noted for attracting wildlife.
Suitable for: light (sandy) and medium (loamy) soils, prefers well-drained soil and can grow in heavy clay soil. Suitable pH: mildly acid, neutral and basic (mildly alkaline) soils. It can grow in semi-shade (light woodland) or no shade. It prefers moist soil.
