"Glossy, thick, heavily savoyed, succulent leaves can get large while still maintaining a good, sweet flavor. Very dark green leaves have an upright growth habit for ease of harvest either as baby leaf or when mature. A little slower growing than other spinach but the flavor makes up for it. Plants are much more compact than flat leaf types. Cool-weather tolerant, also resists bolting in the heat. Abundant Bloomsdale is the result of a breeding project with the classic Bloomsdale crossed to a disease resistant variety called Evergreen. The resulting cross was then heavily reselected by market farmer seed stewards in collaboration with the Organic Seed Alliance and John Navazio. A portion of the proceeds of this variety will go to further support Organic Seed Alliance breeding programs."
