Small-flowered Godetia (Clarkia purpurea ssp. quadrivulnera)

Purple Godetia is also known as Winecup Clarkia due to its vibrant, cup-shaped flowers. This species is native to western North America, primarily found in California but also extending into Oregon, Nevada, and Baja California. 

Unlike other clarkia species, winecup tends to form nicely compact clumps, with flowers that are nicely saturated with color and well-distributed across the plant. 

 Best in full sun. Zones 6 to 10. Bloomtime: late spring into summer. Height: up to 30″ Habitat: Open, sunny spots, woodland edges, grassy slopes. Handles dry soils well.
