Plant Description: This plant grows in an upright rounded form, staying more compact than Cornus sericea ssp. sericea. Stems are bright yellow throughout the winter turning to yellow-green when the leaves emerge. Leaves are more yellow green than other varieties, oval with deeply indented veination and turn red to orange in the fall. Flowers appear in  flat showy clusters with individual flowers creamy white and tiny. Berry-like fruit ripens into white.

Landscape Use and Ecological Function: Cornus sericea ssp. sericea ‘Flaviramea’ is a cultivated variety of C. sericea ssp. sericea. The native variety of this plant occurs across most of North America in low meadows, riparian zones, along forest margins, and within open woods, as part of the understory. Tolerates seasonal flooding.
