Landscape Use and Ecological Function: Hot Rock Penstemon flourishes in sunny, dry locations, particularly soil rich in igneous rock or limestone or well draining rocky slopes. Because of this, Hot Rock Penstemon makes a great addition to xeriscaping projects and climate resilient gardening for increasingly warm and dry climates. 

This penstemon is known to attract a wide variety of wildlife including native butterflies like checkerspots and tiger moths, several species of bee including leafcutter, sweat bee, and bumblebees, as well as hummingbirds.
