Plant Description: Lupinus arboreus, also called Tree Lupine and Coastal Lupine, is a large, woody, drought tolerant yellow lupine. It grows several branches and fills with yellow spikes of flowers that resemble pea blossoms. Perennial and reseeds.

Landscape Use and Ecological Function: Tree Lupine is found most commonly in coastal regions growing along sandy hillsides, it makes a great soil stabilizer.  It is drought tolerant and grows well in poor, nutrient deficient soils, where is can convert soil bacteria into usable nitrogen for neighboring plants.
