A quintessential wildflower bulb species of the Willamette Valley. When you drive the valley and see drifts and, in some cases, entire fields of blue in the spring, it is likely this flower you are seeing. This is the species most closely associated with Native American usage as a food staple. Dark to lighter blue flowers occur in spires that rise up to 2 ft in height. Naturalizes & self-sows if allowed. Well adapted to the garden and easy to grow. Beautiful in drifts or in mixed perennial beds - but best planted where it can dry out some during summer.
