Family: Bellflower (Campanulaceae). Hardy to Zones 3 to 9.

Plant Description: Twining and vining perennial native to China. A soft and pretty climber with bell-shaped blossoms. 

Traditional usage (TCM): builds chi and tonifys the blood. In TCM, the herb is the pressed, dried, rolled root. The roots are crunchy, very sweet, quite delicious. *CONSULT A PROFESSIONAL FOR MEDICAL USE. NEVER CONSUME PLANTS WITHOUT PROPER ID*

Growing Instructions: Sow in spring. Plant prefers full sun to part shade and something to climb on–preferably another plant but, lacking that, at least a string. Watch out for gophers, these roots are tastier than carrots!
