Plant Description: Sedum spathulifolium is a drought-tolerant succulent. The small, flat leaves of this plant develop in a rosette and often appear waxy or powdery. These rosettes vary in color from gray to sage green, sometimes red, but all are coated with a bluish cast unique among the native Sedum. In the summer, yellow star-shaped flowers grow clustered on stems averaging six inches in height.

Landscape Use and Ecological Function: This native plant can be found in California, Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia. It tends to grow in a hanging or sprawling manner on the face of cliffs or steep rocky outcrops. Because of this, it can take somewhat drier, rockier conditions than other native varieties. Additionally, its flowers are attractive to butterflies.
