Plant Description: A native evergreen conifer with orange-brown bark and often very cone shaped. A more upright subspecies of Pinus contorta, differing from Shore Pine. Still, a smaller evergreen options typically 100 feet tall or less. Cones grow in symmetrical clusters before dropping. 

Pitch, bark, and needs have historically been used medicinally to treat various ales and sipped in tea. *NEVER CONSUME PLANTS WITHOUT PROPER ID*

Landscape Use and Ecological Function: Lodgepole pines grow happily in full sun in sites that stay moist through winter and dry in summer, often rockier, well draining sites. Lodgepole pines make excellent habitat in smaller urban lots, providing coverage, habitat, and food to nesting birds and small mammals.
