Runner beans selected for very plump and shiny dry beans. We like them for soup, salad, and cooking a simple pot of beans. Tanager Farm bred white runners + Black Coat black runners. In order to maintain the color contrast you may need to isolate each color in the garden.
Direct sow when the soil is warm, usually around June 1; a late chill can harm beans. Plant 6" apart and provide a trellis at least 6 ft tall. Allow beans to dry on the plant; if wet weather is coming, whole plants can be pulled and dried indoors.
