Also known as corn salad or lamb's lettuce. One of the best winter greens, which will provide greens from November-March if sown in September.
Super low-growing plants (less than 1 ft) are perfect for borders, lining pathways, or undersown with crops that drop their leaves in fall, like blueberries or other deciduous crops — just take care to keep the Mache from getting buried by fallen leaves!
It doesn't like heat, so it bolts in the summer. It can also be sown in very early spring (Feb or March) for a shorter harvest. Best leaf quality is achieved over winter. Pair it with Miner's Lettuce and Stridolo for a great winter greens garden.
