(50 days) Crunchy dark-green stars in the garden. Stoke loves cool weather and produces sweet leaves perfect for any salad or sandwich. A very hardy variety that is capable of overwintering in the south of England with no protection (minimum temperatures to 10°F). Old-school mini-romaine, similar to Little Gem, that may be an ancestor of the small lettuce craze that is so popular these days.  A good choice for close plantings and for “cut-and-come-again” salad production. This variety is originally from Stoke, located near Rochester, in Kent, England. It was grown by the Cheeseman family for 150 years, though likely dates from before 1840. We originally sourced this variety from the Heritage Seed Library in England.

Seed produced by Persephone Farm in Lebanon, Oregon.
