Plant Description: Meadow Barley is a tall growing perennial tufted grass with long green and purple stalks. Widely native throughout Oregon and the Western US, this grass is commonly confused with "Common Barley." Although similar looking, Meadow Barley's flower heads are thinner and more purple in color. Fast growing.

Landscape Use and Ecological Function: Meadow Barley is an excellent addition to for meadowscaping and a bunch grass addition in between wildflowers. It grows quickly and self seeds, making it a great ground cover. Birds enjoy the seeds and the tall stalks provide coverage for wildlife.
