Plant Description: sprouting from a bulb, the leafless flower stalk of this plant is topped by a densely-flowered cluster. The light purplish-blue flower head is comprised of up to 20 small flowers and is pinched slightly just below the flower head. At the center of each flower is a deeply notched crown surrounding the stamen giving the name fork-toothed ookow. A few thin leaves arise from the bulb and have a distinct ridge running down the center, resembling that of a keel of a boat. The fruits are oval capsules.

Landscape Use and Ecological Function: This native plant is found near the Pacific coast in meadows, open woods, and grassy slopes from sea level to 6500 ft (2000 m). This is a drought tolerant plant.
