Landscape Use and Ecological Function: Douglas Sagewort can reproduce from seed, but it is most successfully propagated from dividing and spreading of its underground rhizomes. The large rhizomes help prevent erosion by stabilizing stream banks and make it an excellent habitat restoration plant. Its seeds are foraged by a variety of native birds and its leaves are used as nesting material by some native bees
