Such an enchanting little wildflower! Who doesn’t love shooting stars – and such an appropriate name! Numerous dangling flowers with their classic reflexed petals occur on upright stems in spring adding a bright sprinkling of magenta to your garden or meadow. This species is wonderful in rock gardens, front borders, meadowscapes, and even containers! After blooming, the foliage tends to fade as the plant slips into summer dormancy, so it’s best planted with other perennials that can carry on the show. It appreciates seasonal moisture and likes to dry out some in summer.
