Plant Description: This plant is a perennial herb that produces a fuzzy-haired, hollow stem that grows to around 3 ft tall. Slender goldenbanner has lupine-like spires of sunny yellow pea-like flowers that are held up above bunches of rich-green, compound leaves. Each leaf has three leaflets as well as stipules that look like leaflets. The fruit is a leathery legume pod containing the seeds.

Landscape Use and Ecological Function: This native plant is considered rare in some areas and grows across the Northwestern United States and Northern California. It tends to grow in open grassy and sandy places and in open ridges, at elevations from 1000-5000 feet. Great for pollinators - especially bumblebees! This flower resembles Lupine without being susceptible to powdery mildew. This species is rhizomatous so you will get some spread, but it is not aggressive.
