Plant Description: Cold hardy, mat forming cactus with yellow-orange. Best in dry berms, rock gardens, or pots with little moisture. Flowers in yellow to peach-pink. Opuntia pads and fruit are edible.  *NEVER CONSUME PLANTS WITHOUT PROPER ID*

Landscape Use and Ecological Function: Brittle Prickly Pear grows in harsh conditions where soil is dry and may be low in nutrients. Commonly associated with Ceanothus species, junpers, sagebrush, and sedums. Makes a great addition for xerascapes and rock gardens where moisture is very low.
