Plant Description: A perennial herbaceous plant that is known for its tall straight stalks with bright green foliage and white or yellow flowers. Dog hemp bane is mostly found in wooded areas, ditches, and hillsides. It can be found in gravel/sandy soil near streams, and in shady places. It is native to much of North America, mostly southern Canada, and throughout most of the US.

It is poisonous to humans,dogs, and cats. All parts of the plant are poisonous, and the plant is toxic both fresh and dried. The stems contain a white sap that can cause blisters.

Some insects feed on this plant, such as the hummingbird moth, and it is a pollinator habitat for some bees, as well as for pest eating insects.
