Landscape Use and Ecological FunctionThis native plant is found in the Pacific Northwest from British Columbia south to California. It grows in open areas such as roadsides, dry to moist forests, and near the edges of water at elevations lower than 5500 ft.

We recommend using this plant in rain or woodland gardens. It is also excellent for use in food forests. Its flowers attract hummingbirds, and other birds and small mammals enjoy eating the fruit. Additionally, this plant is a butterfly host and attracts pollinators.
