Banana Blue Java ‘Ice Cream’ (Musa acuminata)

One of the most popular banana varieties, the fruit from ‘Ice Cream’ has a creamy, vanilla flavor, just like ice cream. It grows 10-12’ tall so once it reaches full size, it is ideal to plant directly in the ground for home gardens in southern zones or in large pots in northern conservatories or greenhouses. The large, showy leaves are silvery-green and the unripe banana fruit is silvery-blue before ripening to pale yellow. This is a wind resistant variety with a strong pseudostem and root system.
