Plant Description: Sedum spathulifolium purpea is a drought-tolerant succulent cultivar of our native Sedum spathulifolium. The small, flat leaves of this plant develop in a rosette and often appear waxy or powdery. This cultivar is a deeper purple leaved rosette.

  • Width: 1ft - 3ft
  • Watering Needs: Very low, let dry between waterings
  • Sun Needs: Full sun to partial shade
  • Soil Needs: Relatively dry, nutrient poor and fast draining
  • Bloom Time: July, August

Landscape Use and Ecological Function: Though not a native straight species, this plant still offers many benefits and habitat. It attracts butterflies and makes a great drough tolerant ground cover.
