Plant Description: A perennial herb from a branching, woody base which contains several stems and is found in moist to wet meadows, forest openings, and along streambanks. Tubular, hairless deep blue to dark purple flowers grow in one or more inflorescences with compact clusters on a stem. Hairless, opposite leaves grow directly on the stems and have saw-toothed margins. The leaves are lance-shaped to oblong egg-shaped.
